" Live your life now, according to how you want to be remembered when you are gone."
A poignant message on the day of Mandela's passing. Do you want to be remembered as someone who was kind, caring and compassionate, or as someone who just didn't didn't give a damn about anyone apart from themselves? Do you want to be remembered as someone generous, who shared, who gave to the poor and in need, or as someone greedy and selfish that never did anything for anyone? Do you want to be remembered as someone who showed respect to others and who would never turn away from difficulties, or as a bully and coward? You call....
"If you really want to do something you'll find a way, if you don't, you'll find excuses!."
This is one of my all time favourites and so very true; so many people say they will do so many things, yet always find reasons and excuses for not doing them! The fact is, whether you admit it to yourself or not, if you really want to do something you will find a way to do it; nothing will stop you!
"If you don't want to lead an ordinary life, don't do ordinary things!"
This is one of my favourite quotes too. Some people really do moan that they lead a normal, mundane and yes, boring life, yet they don't do anything out of the ordinary to change that. It really is that simple, if you don't want an ordinary life, then find out what would make your life extraordinary and try to do it!
"The wise speak because they have something to say, the foolish because they have to say something!"
I personally really like this quote, because for me it focuses on those people that don't think about what they say, or how they say it or the consequences and how it affects others. Some people feel they just have to say something regardless, and use their words nastily, or make snide comments, or try and outdo others with what they say. These people, in my opinion, are the fools. The wise think carefully about what they say, how they say it and the consequences.
"Live your life according to how to believe it is acceptable for others to lead their life."
I think this is a really amazing quote and simply means you should only do things in your life that you think it is OK for others to also do, and if you believe it is not OK for others to do them, then don't do them yourself. A really important lifestyle philosophy, and yet not always easy to follow!
"If you are good to others, and do good things for others, and feel positive and give others good energy, you will always get much more in return, maybe not from the same person or at the same time, but you will always, always get more back"
Taken from my Little Book of Good Energy. This is so true, all the time, every time and without fail. Do good, be good and you will get it back over and over again. Be aware though, the opporsite is also very true too, of course!
"If you share what you have with others, even if you don't have much, others will always share with you. If you hoard however, you will only ever have what you've got, nothing more."
An analogy would be a group of people going out for a meal. They all order different dishes. When the dishes arrive, all of the group, aside from one, delight in sharing each other's dishes, exploring the different flavours and tastes. But there is one in the group who says he never shares his food (I know a few people like this!). He only has what is on his plate, nothing more, and because he doesn't share, no one shares with him and so he misses out on all the other wonderful flavours and textures and tastes. People who share, will always be surrounded by other people who also share and will always end up having so much more. People who don't share, don't have anyone and just have what they have, nothing more.
"So live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about their religion; respect others in their view, and demand that they respect yours. Love your life,
perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and its purpose in the service of your people. Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great
Always give a word or a sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend, even a stranger, when in a lonely place. Show respect to all people and grovel to none.
When you arise in the morning give thanks for the food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies only in yourself. Abuse no one and no thing, for abuse turns the wise ones to fools and robs the spirit of its vision.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home." Native American Shawnee Chief, Tecumseh
